I need help finding an objective cardiology examination as soon as possible. My experience has been very dismissive. I am doing my best –diet exercise– no doctor will address the fact that the dr increased a dosage of amlodipine without my knowledge fr 2.5 to 5 MG. severe rash (lichen planus) and palpitations developed dr will not refer me to cardiology until over one year later. Dr prescribed this “bc it works well with African Americans.” My body didn’t tolerate the drug. Dr went to great lengths not to attribute it to side effects of the drug, favoring to attribute the palpitations to hypertension that I don’t have. So now my record states I have hypertensive heart disease. I am being annoying, but I am now asking questions. It was refreshing to hear this podcast. Acknowledging the bias is healthy. Implicit bias has an impact on every day life. Healthcare bias is extremely critical. Our health is the most valuable asset we have.
