Dr. Alain Bouchard is joined by Dr. Nelson B. Schiller, MD, FACC
Founder the UCSF Adult Echocardiography Laboratory and Adult Congenital Heart Disease Clinic.
Since its development in the 1970s, Doppler echocardiography has occupied a position of increasing importance in the assessment of patients with valvular heart disease. Narrative
Summary
1. The left ventricular size is normal. Systolic function is
hyperdynamic.
The estimated ejection fraction is > 70%. Wall thickness is mildly
increased.
Left ventricular segmental wall motion is normal.
2. The right ventricular size is mildly enlarged. Systolic function is
reduced.
3. D shaped septum suggestive of RV pressure/volume overload.
4. The estimated pulmonary arterial systolic pressure is 82 mmHg,
consistent
with severely elevated pulmonary pressures.
5. There is mild to moderate tricuspid valve regurgitation.
6. The IVC measures 50% collapse upon inspiration
consistent
with normal right atrial pressure, 3 mmHg.
